- A nanometer is a billionth of a meter.
- A measurement of a wavelength of a light beam. The wavelengths of various lights in the visible spectrum are as follows: blue light = 400 to 500 nm, green light = 500 to 600 nm, red light = 600 to 700 nm.
- Also known as an Angstrom. A unit of length equal to one hundred-millionth (10-10) of a meter. It was once used to measure wavelengths of light and the diameters of atoms, but has now been mostly replaced by the nanometer.
