Y — ‘Y-axis’ to ‘Yotta’
A point on the vertical axis of a grid, scale, or page dimension. Other term: y-axis. See also: x-coordinate.
One of the four process colors, CMYK, with Y standing for yellow. Yellow, together with cyan and magenta, is also one of the three subtractive primary colors. Its complementary color is blue, however, because of the characteristics of paint pigments used in the past, painters traditionally regard its complement as purple. Yellow is the color of light with a wavelength between 565 nm and 590 nm. The human eye also perceives some mixtures of differently-colored lights, such as red added to green, to be the same color.
The actual amount of force needed to start an ink flowing.
Yotta is an SI prefix in the SI system of units denoting 1024 or 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000.
Adopted in 1991, it comes from the Greek όκτώ (okto), meaning eight, because it is equal to 10008.
As of August 2005, yotta- is the largest and last SI prefix to be confirmed.
