Keiger Printing Company Hosts an Open House
May 17, 2008The pressroom of Keiger Printing Company was the site of an Open House with a baby shower theme on the afternoon of May 15. The "baby" is Keiger's new Heidelberg CD 74 offset press - dubbed Preston Heidelberg VIII as it is Keiger's eighth Heidelberg since opening for business in 1943. Balloons floated above a table laden with tea sandwiches, shrimp, chicken salad, and slices of pink lemonade cake iced with blue baby booties. The guests were treated to a tour of the entire facility, which includes several offset presses, a Xerox iGen digital press, and production equipment such as folders, stitchers and collating machines. Keiger's knowledgeable staff was on hand to welcome guests and lead tours.
A demonstration of the new press was given, illustrating the very quick change-over time from one job to another. Samples of previous work were displayed, as were posters highlighting Signatures by Keiger, a line of stationery and greeting cards that will soon debut. Guests received personalized posters and notepads, and coffee mugs imprinted with the cover design of Keiger's award-winning Digital Imaging Sample Book. The printing company is very pleased with its 36-ton, 40-ft. long new arrival. With a format size of 23 x 29, five-color plus coating capability, state-of-the-art controls, and a printing speed of 15,000 sheets per hour, the press is a perfect complement to Keiger's wide variety of resources.
