Keiger Printing Company Completes Digital Press Upgrade with the First iGen4™ Placement in North America
September 15, 2008
Keiger Printing Company, Inc. of Winston-Salem, NC has completed a major equipment upgrade in their digital printing division, Keiger Direct. The upgrade involved replacing their Xerox iGen3® digital production press with the new Xerox iGen4™ digital production press. The iGen4 incorporates new hardware technology to greatly enhance image print quality and to facilitate consistent color reproduction. Software improvements address issues regarding color predictability and file integrity.
Keiger ventured into digital printing in 1993 with the Xerox Docutech 6150 and has consistently been at the forefront in the installation and operation of digital printing equipment. In 2001, Keiger was the first printing company in the country to install the Xerox 2060 color press with a Creo rip. In 2005, Keiger was the first in North Carolina to install the iGen3 with Creo rip and now becomes the first in North America to install the iGen4.
In 2007, Keiger was recognized as a leader in digital print production when it received the coveted Best of Show prize in the annual Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging (PIXI) awards, a competition of digital printing that included entries from 50 countries around the world.
Keiger utilizes Xerox Freeflow Web Services software and XMPie software to drive web-to-print applications and personalized printing to their digital production equipment. Other custom software is written in house to drive personal email, PURLS and personal microsites, tracking and reporting, and program integration.
Keiger Printing Company is a fourth generation family-owned business that has served its customers for 65 years. Keiger Direct is an operating division that specializes in personalized marketing communications and cross-media campaigns. Keiger is a Xerox Premier Print Partner.
